Mali is one of the poorest countries in the world economically, but extremely rich in culture & friendliness. Its music is well-known around the world. I was a Peace Corps Volunteer here from '92-'94 and I have been back numerous times to visit my friends there and attend music festivals. Let me show you Pays Senefou, the area in the south of Mali, a place of exuberant dancing, balafon music, large open-air markets, bogolon (mud cloth) and simple, but dignified, living. Let's talk to people about their lives, their hopes, their frustrations. Let's dance to some of the best music in the world and understand that joy does not necessarily come from having lots of 'stuff.'
